About Sarah Nielsen
Hello! My name is Sarah Nielsen, and I’m a senior at The University of Texas at Austin, studying Chemical Engineering. Being active has always been a huge part of my life. I have spent my life playing numerous sports - volleyball, basketball, softball, and rowing. About a year and a half ago, I decided to add cycling to that list. While I’m relatively new to the cycling scene, I’ve gotten plenty of miles in through my first cross-country ride from Austin, TX to Anchorage, AK through Texas 4000 for Cancer last summer. The 2018 JOGLE will be my first ride for MS and my first time traveling to the UK! My favorite thing about cross-country cycling is the ability to connect with people along the route, spreading hope and inspiring strangers.
I ride because I want to be a part of the cure for MS, to help alleviate the financial and emotional strain that the disease brings, and to develop better treatment options for patients. I ride because I know that even the toughest day on the bike could not compare to how hard it is to live with MS. I am thankful for my physical health and aim to use my fitness to help others, one pedal stroke at a time.
Any donation, no matter how big or small, is greatly appreciated! If you know someone who has been affected by MS in your life, please feel free to reach out to me so that I may dedicate my ride to them and carry their name and their story with me as I ride across the United Kingdom.
